Uyapo Engineering Projects respects the cultures of the communities in which it operates. To that end
we work closely with our hosts and strive to respect laws and customs and minimize adverse impacts
and ensure transfer of benefits and enhancement of opportunities.
We will work on an empowerment model which is intended for the general well-being of the
communities with whom we interact. We seek to make lasting contributions to local communities and
be sensitive to their culture and way of life.
Local primary schools always benefit from Uyapo Engineering Projects wherever we engage with local
communities. The company is well known for its donations of Soccer Uniforms; Computers and
Sponsoring of Local Tournaments.
Requirements for the sourcing and engagement of labor: Unskilled and semi-skilled labor required for
the execution of all labor intensive works will be engaged strictly in accordance with prevailing legislation
and SANS 1914-5, Participation of Targeted Labor.
Uyapo Engineering Projects shall through all available community structures, inform the local
communities of the labor intensive work and the employment opportunities presented thereby.
Preference will be given to people with previous practical experience in construction and / or who come
from households:
»    That have less than one full time person earning an income
»    Where subsistence agriculture is the source of income
»    Those who are not in receipt of any social security pension income
»    Where the head of the household has less than a primary school education

Skills Transfer: Wherever possible all those engaged in the project will be trained in the various skills
required to complete their tasks successfully. Uyapo Engineering Projects experienced and skilled staff
will be required to train others on-the-job. All laborers will be trained on Health & Safety measures.
EPWP: All unskilled and semi-skilled labor will be recruited from the local communities and where
possible the Uyapo Engineering Projects will try by all means not to use equipment but employ labor-
intensive methods to provide jobs to as many community members as possible
